ST JAMES THEATRE

Originally opened as the Erlanger Theatre in 1927. The theatre has changed hands and with that changed names numerous times. Subsequent to Abraham Erlanger's death, contro of the theatre was taken over by the Astor family. Eventually the Shubert family also owned the theatre. The building was erected on the spot of the original Sardi's restaurant.

The Who's Tommy On Broadway opened here on April 22, 1993 and ran through June 17, 1995, for 899 performances.
